Experience And Judgement Take Shape.
Philosophy

We believe backpacking is a way to discover the right path.
Clothing.
Food.
Shelter.
Everything you need is carried on your back.
What you bring.
What you leave behind.
Every decision is yours.
And in those decisions, there is freedom.
The purpose of a journey is to connect deeply with a place.
Running through mountains.
Fishing in rivers.
Climbing rock.
Or simply walking.
Through different activities, we seek truth.

Each represents a way of facing ourselves.
And the simpler the act is,
the more beautiful it becomes.
A traveler has no choice but to express oneself
not by where you go,
but by how you go.
Backpacking is the act of embodying one’s values.
⸻
Lightness.
Strength.
Comfort.
Accessibility.
A backpack must balance numerous qualities.
There is no room for compromise,
and often they seem contradicting.

Like tuning an old radio,
I try to find the single spot
where everything mesh together.
That is how a blooper backpack is made.
At the same time,
that spot is different for everyone.
Through countless conversations with people in the outdoors,
I have come to understand this difference.
Every backpack that leaves the atelier
has its own character.
As I sew a pack
I feel it becoming an indispensable companion
for the customer’s unique usage in mind.
I create gear for your journey
in the small one-man workshop
close the Southern Alps of Japan.
Profile
He has been involved in outdoor activities since his teenage years.
Among many pursuits, backpacking has always remained at the center of his outdoor life.
In his mid-twenties, seeking gear that could fully meet the functional demands of each activity, he began making backpacks himself.
Through conversations with many outdoor people he met in his home range, the Southern Alps of Japan―trail runners, hikers, climbers, snowboarders, and fly fishers―he gradually developed a style centered on custom-made gear designed to support their pursuits.
In 2018, he established his atelier and shop, blooper backpacks, beside the Oigawa River at the foot of the Southern Alps.
Fly fishing remains his main activity today. Traveling to fields both in Japan and abroad, he continues to engage with nature and gather fragments of inspiration for his craft.
Alongside making backpacks, he also publishes zines and essays, reflecting on travel, craft, and the relationship between people and the nature.
